How Our Bodies Learned, the new poetry collection from Knoxville poet Marilyn Kallet, is a sensual and spiritual guide to understanding what love is—and what it isn’t. Kallet will read from the book at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville on January 29 and at Vanderbilt University in Nashville on February 15.

But as author Veronica Kavass demonstrates, inspired works of art were conceived no matter the arc of the love story, and many are beautifully displayed throughout her new book alongside intriguing photographs of the artist-couples. Kavass will discuss Artists in Love on November 11 at 2 p.m. at Parnassus Books in Nashville.
August 28, 2012 When the protagonists in Adam Ross’s story collection, Ladies and Gentlemen, aren’t deliberately malicious, they’re often unintentionally cruel, the result of being unable to think beyond their own desires. What about Ross himself? In lieu of a standard Q&A, we recently sent him some half-finished sentences to complete. He reveals something about his writing habits, his love of early-90s hip hop, his penchant for cooking, and his plans to take his fiction into uncharted territory. Ross will discuss Ladies and Gentlemen at Parnassus Books in Nashville on September 6 at 6:30 p.m., and at the twenty-fourth annual Southern Festival of Books, held October 12-14 at Legislative Plaza in Nashville.
