Ladies and Gentlemen, Sharpen Your Quills

Take your pick from writing workshops around the state

The school year is winding down now, but the literary events around the state are just gearing up. In the east state this week, the Knoxville Writers’ Guild will host humorist Judy DiGregorio on May 5, and registration is now open for the Mountain Heritage Literary Festival, held at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate June 10-12.

Middle Tennesseans won’t want to miss the Revision Bootcamp sponsored by the Porch Writers’ Collective on May 3; or “Speak Easy: A Celebration of the Written and Spoken Word”–featuring Mike Daisey, Southern Word, and The Moth Mainstage–a multimedia poetry and storytelling series at Oz Arts in Nashville May 4-7; or the May 9 culminating event of the Nashville Reads program, when James McBride will be in town to discuss The Color of Water.

Over in Memphis, Crosstown Arts will host the final installment of “Impossible Language” on May 6. On May 10, the Chattanooga Writers’ Guild will offer a panel discussion on publishing strategies, and registration is now open for the Clarksville Writer’s Conference, which will be held June 2-3.

Writers, inspiration is just a click away.
