Five Times the Fun

July 31, 2015 Jessica Young’s Finley Flowers: Original Recipe is the first in a new series of chapter books about an inventive young girl and her warm circle of friends. This title—the first of five books Young will release this year—tells the story of Finley’s attempts to win the school cook-off. Young will appear at the Southern Festival of Books, held in Nashville October 9-11, 2015. All festival events are free and open to the public.

June 17, 2015 Nashville children’s author Lynne Berry has fun with alliteration in her newest picture book, Pig and Pug. She will speak at Parnassus Books, along with some canine surprises, on June 20, 2015, at 2 p.m.

A Reading Festival That Gets It Right

May 7, 2015 With a stellar lineup of award-winning children’s authors and illustrators from all over the country, Knoxville is getting ready for the eleventh annual Children’s Festival of Reading. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at World’s Fair Park on May 16, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

March 4, 2015 In the Waves, Lennon and Maisy Stella’s debut picture book, is an adaptation of their first original song. The sisters celebrated the book’s release on a sunny Nashville day in April, and Chapter 16 was there.

The Hamster Express

November 5, 2014 Chris Van Allsburg’s newest picture book, The Misadventures of Sweetie Pie, tells the story of one hamster’s journey from pet shop to freedom—with stops at various cages along the way. Van Allsburg will appear at the Nashville Public Library on November 12, 2014, at 6:15 p.m. The event, part of the Salon@615 series, is free and open to the public.
