Until the World Is Full

Nashville author River Jordan covers a lot of ground in Confessions of a Christian Mystic, a book that’s part memoir, part religious testimony, and part lyrical meditation. Jordan will appear at Parnassus Books in Nashville on March 29, and at Novel in Memphis on April 25.

Learning How to Be Patient and Daring

Life is more than a little complicated for the twelve-year-old protagonist of Ashley Herring Blake’s new middle-grade novel, The Mighty Heart of Sunny St. James. Once Sunny makes it through her heart transplant, she faces even bigger hurdles. Blake will appear at Parnassus Books in Nashville on March 26.

To Take Feet to Ground

Afoot and Lighthearted: A Journal for Mindful Walking, a beautiful new book by Nashville nonfiction author Bonnie Smith Whitehouse, is clearly a labor of love. Whitehouse will discuss her new guide to meditative meandering at Parnassus Books in Nashville on March 7.

The Shocking Fulfillment of Beauty

Don’t be fooled by the title or the sunny yellow cover of Erin McGraw’s new collection, Joy: And 52 Other Very Short Stories. In these snapshots of lives under extreme pressure, each narrator claims the spotlight to tell a powerful, often dark story. McGraw, who lives in Sewanee, will appear at Star Line Books in Chattanooga on March 6.

Hiding from Our Ghosts

C.J. Redwine continues her riveting Ravenspire fantasy series for YA readers with The Blood Spell, a delightful twist on the classic Cinderella story. Redwine will appear at Parnassus Books in Nashville on February 15.

Profiteer and Prophet

Terry Roberts’s new novel, The Holy Ghost Speakeasy and Revival, is a lyrical, dreamlike meditation on faith and death. It’s also a page-turning yarn about a law-breaking, wife-stealing, moonshine-running “man of God.” Roberts will speak at the Mildred Haun Conference at Walters State Community College in Morristown on February 1 and at the Rose Glen Literary Festival in Sevierville on February 23.
