Like Father, Like Daughter

It’s no picnic being the daughter of Satan, especially if you’re disinclined toward evil. Just ask Mouse, the 700-year-old protagonist of The Devil’s Bible, the new novel by Dana Chamblee Carpenter. Carpenter will appear at Parnassus Books in Nashville on March 9 at 6:30 p.m.

Say My Name

The Wish Granter is the second book in C.J. Redwine’s New York Times-bestselling Ravenspire series. In this installment, the Nashville novelist reimagines Rumpelstiltskin as a ruthless, power-hungry fairy eager to give people their hearts’ desires—though always with a devastating catch. Redwine will appear at Parnassus Books in Nashville on February 16 at 6:30 p.m.

Surviving the Fall

Bikes and I had not formed a strong and lasting partnership in the past, so why, at the brittle-boned age of fifty-four, was I keen on yet another two-wheeled dream date? I have no idea. But, reader, I bought it. A blue cruiser and a snazzy helmet to match.

One Long Headwind

todaywillbedifferentSpending a day in the mind of Eleanor Flood in Maria Semple’s third novel, Today Will Be Different, is a little like spinning around and around until you fall down—only funnier. Semple will appear at Parnassus Books in Nashville on November 17 at 6:30 p.m.

Perpetually Uninvited

die-young-with-me-coverAs a teen growing up in the 1990s, Rob Rufus and his friends felt the classic alienation of youth. In Die Young with Me: A Memoir, Rufus tells the story of discovering punk music and his simultaneous battle with cancer.

Out of Time

a-world-without-you-hi-res-jacket-art“It’s dangerous to dwell in the past. You don’t have to be a time traveler to know that,” says the protagonist of A World Without You, the latest YA novel by Beth Revis. As it happens, this character is a time traveler, so he would know. Revis will appear at the Southern Festival of Books, held in Nashville October 14-16. Festival events are free and open to the public.
