One of Knoxville’s most colorful and controversial characters is remembered in Cas Walker: Stories on His Life and Legend, an oral history edited by Joshua S. Hodge, who died earlier this year. An event to honor the memory of Hodge and celebrate the release of the book will be held at the John C. Hodges Library at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville on November 5.
The Ragin’ Cajun: Memoir of a Louisiana Man tells Doug Kershaw’s life story from his birth on a houseboat in southern Louisiana to international stardom. The legendary musician and his co-author, novelist Cathie Pelletier, will appear at the 2019 Southern Festival of Books, held in Nashville on October 11-13.
William Kent Krueger’s This Tender Land follows four orphans as they venture beyond all they’ve known to find answers about their families. Krueger will discuss the novel at Parnassus Books in Nashville on September 10 and at Novel in Memphis on September 11.
House of Salt and Sorrows follows a young heiress as she grapples with a mysterious family curse. Erin A. Craig will discuss the book at Novel in Memphis on August 6 and Parnassus Books in Nashville on August 24.
