How to Plan A Road Trip that Won’t Trip You Out

Travelers tend to fall into one of two categories: those who don’t mind sweating and those who do. Caroline Eubanks offers advice for both in her new book, This is My South. Eubanks will appear at Novel in Memphis on March 14.

Coming of Age on Public-Access TV

Jeff Zentner’s new YA novel, Rayne & Delilah’s Midnite Matinee, is a coming-of-age story about two best friends and their monster-movie show in Jackson, Tennessee. Zentner will appear at Parnassus Books in Nashville on February 26.

Marsh Girl

In Where the Crawdads Sing, the debut novel by veteran nature writer Delia Owens, a young girl is abandoned in the coastal marshlands of North Carolina. Owens will discuss the novel, a 2018 selection of Reese Witherspoon’s book club, at Parnassus Books in Nashville on February 18.

Bon Appetite, Y’all!

Soul Food, the third cookbook by Nashville native Carla Hall, is still new, with no stains. But the recipes in the book have been passed down through Southern kitchens on many food-stained recipe cards. Hall will appear in conversation with Kelly Pickler at Parnassus Books in Nashville on December 4.

United We Stand

On October 22, Alan Mallach will discuss The Divided City: Poverty and Prosperity in Urban America, an examination of the changing face of America’s cities, at Novel in Memphis.
