Ace Atkins’ The Shameless keeps the Quinn Colson series fresh with New York podcasters, a populist politician, and a pair of Native American hit men. Atkins will appear at Novel in Memphis on July 10 and at the East Tennessee History Center in Knoxville on July 17.

Dodging Cars and History

In A Familiar Wilderness, S.J. Dahlman, a journalist and professor at Milligan College, hikes the route of Daniel Boone’s Wilderness Road. Dahlman will appear at Union Ave. Books in Knoxville on June 30.

Melding Voices

In a starred review, Booklist called The Tilted World, a historical novel by poet Beth Ann Fennelly and novelist Tom Franklin, a “full-bodied shot of bluesy Americana.” Fennelly and Franklin will discuss The Tilted World at Chattanooga State Community College April 8-9. Fennelly will also discuss her most recent essay collection, Heating & Cooling, at Star Line Books in Chattanooga on April 10.
