Poet and novelist Darnell Arnoult will replace Silas House at Lincoln Memorial University

June 10, 2010 Poet, novelist, and Chapter 16 editorial board member Darnell Arnoult has accepted the position of writer-in-residence at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate. She will replace Silas House, who is leaving Tennessee to return to his native Kentucky as National Endowment for the Humanities Chair in Appalachian Studies at Berea College. Arnoult’s appointment officially begins July 1, though she will be leading a fiction workshop at LMU this weekend for the Mountain Heritage Literary Festival, now in its sixth year.

With a home in Middle Tennessee, an MFA degree from the University of Memphis, and now a teaching position in the eastern part of the state, Darnell Arnoult, though a native Virginian, is truly a Tennessee writer. At Chapter 16 we are proud of her newest achievement and grateful for her indefatigable support of the literary arts in this state, and for her help with and guidance of this website.
